LONDON
London’s history dates from AD 43 as Roman military legions formed settlements on the banks of the Thames River. World War II aerial bombing devastated London and necessitated decades of rebuilding. PARIS

Paris grew to become the economic, political, religious, and cultural capital of France. After World War II, France became a founding member of the European Union by signing the 1951 Treaty of Paris.
