About Berlin
Berlin’s history dates back to the 13th century where it intersected with two important trade routes. After World War II, the fall of The Wall in 1989, and reunification in 1990, Berlin, as Germany’s capital, has evolved into one of the most creative, modern, and progressive metropolitan centers within the European Union.
In addition to tourism, Berlin’s varied economy spans biomedical engineering, clean and high tech, creative and film industries, education and research facilities as well as a thriving entrepreneurial scene.
Berlin's proudly known for its three World Heritage Sites and many spectacular landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, Potsdamer Platz, and the Berlin Cathedral.
Berlin's coat of arms has always been a bear. It's positioned on the city flag and represents the city hall. Today, many colorful whimsical bear sculptures are located throughout the cityscape, which will brighten your spirit with a smile.
